Imposingfortresses and castles, and the numerousmuseumsin the Val Pusteria whisk you off on a journey into the past where you can learn all about the local history, habits and customs. A trip to the nearby towns of Brunico / Bruneck, Brixen / Brissanone, Bolzano, Vipiteno / Sterzing and Merano is also well worthwhile, with their attractive shops, medieval arcades and historic and artistic treasures.
